Now that is not the only way. You can use the above letter and send it to the Access To Information & Privacy (ATIP). The email and website are below.
ATIP-AIPRP@ainc-inac.gc.ca
It is your individual right as a member of a First Nation to obtain honorariums, travel expenses and salaries of the chief, individual councillors and senior staff.
Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada also has links to every First Nation to view funding for each First Nation until the fiscal year ending March 31, 2012.
You need only to attach to the above letter a request for the most recent audit year. And they are mailed to you, at no expense to you, in disk format.
Knowledge is a better understanding of the political and fiscal stability of the First Nation from which you are registered with. The following link to what was known as INAC allows for researching two areas of importance. General Information an Census Statistics. Under General Information your will find an area of interest. Federal Funds. This encompasses all federal funding for every First Nation for the following years.
2001-2002
2002-2003
2003-2004
2004-2005
2005-2006
2006-2007
2007-2008
2008-2009
2009-2010
2010-2011

When the more recent audit is added, you can better understand how federal funds are spent. And come to your own conclusions as to what you may find. I will add more information as time permits regarding these area as I find more concise information to share.

  1. An update to requesting Senior Band Salaries and Fiscal Year Audits. You must now scan your Status Card ( both sides ) when you email your request. Or photocopy it to attach it to a fax to them.

They are ensuring the information is given to registered First Nation residents.

As far as I know, a dvd disk is sent out with all of the information requested on it.
